Stella McCartney returns to London Fashion Week

In celebration of the Olympics, Stella McCartney has returned to London Fashion Week which is going to be taking place between the 17th and 22 February this year.

The fashion week sees the most influential names in fashion come to the UK to show off their latest collections and enjoy the catwalk shows. It is expected that Stella McCartney is going to be one of the highlights of the event as she showcases a special collection.

The daughter of Sir Paul McCartney has designed the sports kits by Adidas that is going to be worn by the team from Great Britain during this year’s Olympics. This is not the only high-profile activity that she has been involved in this year either, as she is also set to launch a new perfume.

As well as these new products she is set to open a second store in the capital city which is going to be in Brompton Cross. She is not remaining in London for long though and returns to Paris to show off her winter collection in March.

The diffusion line by Alexander McQueen, McQ, is also going to get some exposure at the fashion event in London and it is expected this is going to generate a significant amount of interest before the new store in London is opened in the spring. This year’s fashion week is sponsored by Vodafone which has been involved with the event for three seasons.

With London hosting the Olympics and the importance of London fashion week, this is going to be a very important year for the capital city. Rihanna new TV fashion show

Rihanna has signed up to work on a television show that will feature her looking for the next best fashion designer. The show does not have a title yet, but Nicola Roberts of Girls Aloud will be the host when it airs on Sky Living towards the end of the year.

Rihanna will be the executive producer of the new fashion show and is expected to appear on the show off and on throughout its run. She will also be highlighting the work of the winning designer in July, by wearing a design at her July Hyde Park performance in London.

The megastar stated that she has always loved the fashion world given the fact that it’s so inspiring and it has helped her become the artist that the public knows today. She added that she cannot wait to watch the contestants grow and to observe how their own individuality shapes their designs.

The series will feature ten episodes and will follow the designers through a set of challenges that will involve them creating outfits for different celebrity and musical talents. Nicola is also excited about the venture stating that she is excited to work with the pop star and that she was flattered by the invite.

Livia Firth environmentally friendly with Yoox

Of all the celebrities working to promote environmentally friendly style, Livia Firth is definitely the most glamorous. It has recently been announced that she is going to be moving into design work and has started creating a line of environmentally friendly items for the clothing retailer Yoox.

She is going to be working through a partnership with Reclaim To Wear, which is an organisation that take surplus textiles and waste and turns them into new items. Ms Firth first became involved with the dresses when she wore a cocktail dress designed by the company to the Venice film Festival. Another time she was noted for wearing recycled clothing was when she wore an outfit constructed from the old suits of her husband, Colin Firth.

Her marriage to Colin Firth made the initial part of her career in the fashion world more difficult than might be thought. Critics were generally harder on her due to her husbands standing in the film world, with one person describing her as a ‘bored housewife.’ The relationships she subsequently forged with the various supporters of environmental causes have meant that people and critics have started to take her seriously.

The director of Annie Greenabelle, the clothing label, is Jane Olley and she has recently commented about Firth, “For green style she is a great ambassador and she is fully engaged and informed about the cause she is looking to promote.

She understands that ethical garments are sometimes thought to be less desirable because they are made from textures and fabrics from unconventional sources. She also understands the need to make women socially responsible and adopt socially responsible clothing.

I have a huge amount of respect for Ms Firth and I admire the fact that she is helping lesser-known designers in the industry become known. To me, she is someone who stands out for what she believes in and is not just dabbling in an industry temporarily.”

It was two years ago when she first made one of her biggest promises to the fashion world. She said that for every red carpet event that she attended she would only be wearing clothes from an environmentally responsible companies. Some of the most notable events she has attended wearing this type of clothing have been the premieres of A Single Man and The Kings Speech.

It seems that her efforts alone are not enough to satisfy her and she is recruiting other people into her challenge. She is currently attempting to pair celebrities with luxury designers who will be creating green clothing for their chosen celebrity. This is something that is typically very hard to do as designers are not people who particularly enjoy keeping to restrictions, especially when they are designing for such high-profile people.

She first met her husband nearly 20 years ago on a film set in Colombia, she was a production assistant on a film starring Colin Firth and they got married in 1997. They have two sons together aged eight and 10 and she says her husband is responsible for stimulating her interest in environmentally friendly clothing.

Kanye West moving to London to pursue his fashion dream

DW was the fashion label debuted by Kanye West in September and it was not welcomed with open arms by the fashion community. In fact, it was largely criticised and apart from a few celebrities welcoming his move into the fashion world it was largely shunned.

Many people were speculating that it was unlikely that Kanye West would be returning to the fashion industry and would instead focus on his music. However, a recent article in The Sun newspaper has said that the rapper is still keen on becoming a designer and is not going to let a little resistance get in his way.

It is also expected that West is going to be moving to London in order to focus on his designing. He has previously stated that he enjoys being in London and wants to make it his home for the time being.

However, he is known to travel and spent several of the past few years exploring places as diverse as Japan, Rome and New York. It has also been said that he is currently preparing a new show for Paris Fashion Week which takes place in March. In regard to his music he has recently been seeking out a new studio.

The Only Way Is Essex Lauren Goodger’s not passing the taste test

It seems that Lauren Goodger’s stylist from The Only Way Is Essex believes that shinier and tighter is the key to getting a great look, but it may be time for the 25 year old to find a new fashion adviser after seeing the photos of the usually lovely star out last night. She was seen out with her other TOWIE stars at the breast cancer Pink Friday event wearing a leopard skirt with sequins on it paired with a one shoulder black tank that together made her look more like a mess than a star out for a good cause.

The mess unfortunately did not stop there for Lauren however, as she was also sporting a pair of black tights underneath the entire get-up that were tucked into black heels creating a final effect that would have only made Snookie proud. The only thing that may have slightly helped Laruen out was the fact that fellow Essex girl Lauren Pope was also seen out wearing a leopard print blouse, but when paired with her pencil skirt the effect was a bit more docile and easier on the eyes. The best of the entire group was most likely Maria Fowler who was darling in a mini-dress and even more darling given the fact that instead of clubbing she spent the evening with her mom.

The girls from TOWIE have been quite busy over the past few months shooting the third instalment of the series for ITV2 with plenty of drama already slated to be on the way including a struggle between Lauren and her ex fiancé as they deal with leaving behind their relationship and moving on.

Outside of the TOWIE girls a few other celebs popped up for the charity event including Stacey Solomon, Imogen Thomas, and Kerry Katona.

David Beckham has recently been spotted dressed in a rather unconventional outfit. He was seen wearing turned up jeans and a white T-shirt that made the famous footballer look like he was from the 1950s. This vintage look was completed with a pair of sunglasses and slicked back hair, and he was spotted wearing this new outfit in Los Angeles.

Other reports about the Beckham family have said that they are looking to buy a house in France. They’ve recently confirmed that they are looking to buy an apartment in Paris big enough for them and their children. Victoria Beckham has stated that she is looking for a house in the Rive Gauche area, one of the most exclusive regions of the city. It has housed some of the most famous writers in modern history including F Scott Fitzgerald, James Joyce, and Oscar Wilde.

This is not the first property that the Beckham’s will own in France. They already maintain a home in the South of France, and also have properties in the United States and England. It seems as if the footballer will be returning to Europe as his contract is ending with LA Galaxy this year. Rumours have said that he might be signed to Paris Saint-Germain, however there are no formal talks being conducted as yet.

Leonardo is the sporting director for the team and has previously been involved with Beckham, he has said that they have a good relationship. He commented about the footballer, “He is someone that I greatly admire, he has done so much for football and his values are very true to the sport.” The signing by the club of Beckham would be one of the many high-profile signings that have taken place since the club was purchased by new owners from Qatar.

Cheryl Cole is a big fan of Victoria Beckham’s designs

Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Cole are two of the most famous female stars that have had success all over the world. It seems though that they have very different opinion about each other. Cole has recently said in an interview that she is a huge fan of the work Victoria Beckham does designing clothes. Beckham however has said that she does not welcome a move by Cole into the fashion industry as their designs will be being constantly compared.

A source close to Beckham has said, “Victoria has spent such a huge amount of effort and time trying to distance herself from the ‘WAG’ club so that she can be taken seriously as a designer and this is something that she has achieved, but only recently. She is resenting the fact that Cole think she can just join in and do what she has done while avoiding much of the effort.”

Cole has recently been approached to design a range of shoes for a website and she has said that she is excited about the opportunity, she commented, “I was actually recently talking to Victoria on a plane and she said how exciting being involved in fashion is, this is one of the reasons why I am so keen to get started.” Beckham is seems is most concerned that the designs she makes will overlap with Cheryl’s.

A source for the magazine Heat has said, “It seems that Victoria thinks that Cheryl has stolen some of the ideas for her shoes from ideas that they have talked about together.” Cheryl disagrees with this saying that she has her own motivations and ideas for the designs.

Red carpet fashion at the TV Choice awards

The TV Choice awards were held in the Savoy hotel in London recently and saw several UK television shows recognised for their contribution to entertainment. Eastenders was the biggest winner of the night when it was named best soap. Additionally, Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie were named as best actress and actor in a soap at the awards.

Wallace has been featured in the papers a great deal lately after the recent cancellation of her wedding plans. She was absent from the awards and this is causing more rumours to circulate among the tabloid papers. The cancellation of is rumoured to be because the man she was supposed to marry sent sexually explicit photographs of her to a previous lover.

Another popular soap, Coronation Street was also recognised for having the best story line as well as newcomer, Paula Lane, winning an award for the best new soap actress. David Tennant was awarded the best actor award for his role in Single Father, Being Human won the award for best drama and The Inbetweeners won the best comedy award.

While the awards for acting were many, there would have been close to none for any of the actors if fashion and style were a factor. Amy Nutall was wearing a leopard print dress that looked more like it belonged in the 1980′s. Chloe Sims also went for an interesting choice of outfit because it looked mostly as if she were wrapped in a curtain.

Amy Childs was one of the few people at the event who actually managed to wear anything close to stylish and she deserves congratulations for this. Paddy Doherty and Anne Widdicombe, both presenters of reality TV shows, looked more as if they were dressed to go to a funeral rather than an awards ceremony.

Brooklyn Beckham is ‘More Stylish’ than his parents according to poll

The results of a new poll run by a leading independent celebrity and fashion website www.MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk, have revealed that Brooklyn Beckham had topped the poll of celebrity kids who are more stylish than their parents, and the judges were the great British public. He is now officially more stylish than his mega famous parents, so say the British public, and Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon came a close second.

Conducted by www.MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk, the study polled 1,879 people, all over the age of 18, who were asked to name which celebrity kids were ahead of their parents in the style stakes. The study came in the wake of a big increase in searches on the website for celebrity children, and according to the subjects of these searches, respondents were given multiple choice answers.

According to the results, the ‘top 10 celebrity kids more stylish than their parents’ were as follows:

1. Brooklyn Beckham- 39%

2. Lourdes Leon- 37%

3. Maddox Jolie- Pitt- 32%

4. Suri Cruise- 31%

5. Romeo Beckham- 25%

6. Willow Smith- 23%

7. Kingston Rossdale- 21%

Andy Barr, Marketing Director of MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk, commented on the findings:

“We already know how much celebrities can influence high street fashion, but now it seems that their little ones are also gaining attention from the fashion pack. Kids’ fashion has certainly come on leaps and bounds over recent years, and with the help of certain celebrity children in the spotlight, it now seems that even young ones have fashion idols to look up to.
