This Sunday, fashion aficionados were treated to a new form of fashion when they saw models walking down the ramp in dresses with prints of ancient structures such as Sicilian temples. This happened at the Milan Fashion Week and the designers in question were no less than Salvatore Ferragamo and Dolce & Gabbana. This biannual event was showcasing women’s apparels on the penultimate day for the spring summer 2014. Milan Fashion Week is a premier event that attracts more than 1500 fashion lovers to Italy’s capital.
Talking about the collection presented by Giornetti, beige was the color that dominated the garments such as blazers and blouses. The blouses had low necklines and they were cut high to allow for the models to expose their midriff and bust line. The skin show was made more appealing for the audiences with models wearing snakeskin bras.
Giornetti talked about his collection after the show describing how he made use of the duality of the models on the ramp to bring out not just modernity and a refined look but also a look that was also very feminine and gentle.
This was not all as Giornetti drew inspiration from the old footwear designed by Salvatore Ferragamo. Salvatore is known for his footwear that he designed for celebrities like Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn. He is one designer who experimented with snakeskin to make straps that were tied at the ankle.
Dolce & Gabbana were not far behind as they made their models wear tops with designs of ancient structures n Sicily shoes with heels that were shaped like columns of temples. One could also see 3D almond trees printed over the dresses worn by the models.
