Marks & Spencer advertising campaigns are known for two things: boosting celebrity spokesmodels presence and guaranteeing a product will sell out. Past examples include the Twiggy trench, and the Myleene Klass bikini.
With this in mind, one wonders how an appearance in the newest M&S campaign will go for Dannii Minogue who is already a household name due to her role as an X-Factor judge.
Minogue will be promoting the latest styles in womenswear along with some new faces including Ana Beatriz Barros the Brazilian supermodel and Lisa Snowdon from Strictly Come Dancing.
The only face that will pop up in the campaign that has experience with M&S will be Twiggy, who has been a model for the brand over the last five years. At age 60, she represents the glamour line for the older fashion forward customer.
Steven Sharp, the executive director of marketing at M&S has referred in the past to Twiggy as the fashion shorthand of the company.
The new television campaign will launch today and feature Cheryl Lynn’s To Be Real. Throughout the ads viewers will see models in many scenarios including a nautical set and a woodland scene.
Although Minogue is much shorter than the other models, she is noticeably the star of the images featured in the front line up of girls often side by side with Twiggy.
Minogue has other projects in the works as well before heading back to Australia for the birth of her son including an autobiography, a range of dresses, and a guest spot as a judge for Australia’s Got Talent.
