Emily Blunt loves red carpet fashion

Though she is perhaps best known for her role as the neurotic, fashion-obsessed character in “The Devil Wears Prada”, Emily Blunt is really not obsessed.  She told interviewers from Harper’s Bazaar UK that she used to look like “a deer in headlights” when she had to tread the red carpet, but she’s more relaxed about it now.  She said she just has a martini beforehand, and that seems to do the trick.

Emily says that her experience in “Prada” made her aware of how much anyone’s personality can be expressed by the clothes they wear, and she found it an exciting discovery.  She still doesn’t plan her wardrobe, really.  She just looks at different outfits and picks the one that appeals the most.

With two new movies, Gulliver’s Travels and The Adjustment Bureau, in the offing, Emily is going to be facing a lot of cameras, and she doesn’t want to present a phony image in the glamour mags.  She objects to airbrushing, for instance.  She says the screen audience is going to see the “wobbly bits”, so why try to fake it.  Also she’s not a fan of anorexia; she said she only diets religiously when a character calls for it.

Not that Emily needs to lose weight.  She has a nicely curvy figure that she’s proud of, and she should be.  You can see her on the cover of HB’s January issue, presumably un-airbrushed and looking pretty terrific.
