Georgina Chapman, designer of Marches, has nothing but praise for Helena Bonham Carter’s eccentric fashion sense. She swears Carter is brilliant with style.
Carter, of The King’s Speech, is infamous for choosing unpopular fashion combinations. Perhaps the most well-known incident was the green shoe and the red shoe at the Golden Globe 2011. However, Chapman adores her perspective.
Chapman said, “Helena brightened up my evening for the Globes with her brilliance. Who says you shouldn’t wear two shoes of radically different colours?”
Chapman, together with Karen Craig, began the evening wear line 7 years ago. Chapman revealed that it was a string of successes. They had to fight at the beginning for recognition. They have won many spots for their Marchesa on A-list celebrities at important events and are well-known.
Chapman said, “When we started Marchesa there were no new brands out there for this niche. Of course you can think of Versace or Valentino, but everyone told us we were off our rockers and that evening wear was worn out. This drove us harder.”
