Madonna is getting ready to help you dress your child as she along with her daughter, Lourdes, age 13, are set to release a fashion line they worked on together aimed at teenage girls that will hit Macy’s in the US this August, which should be just in time for those looking for back to school clothes.
However, while the platinum blonde is known for her crazy and sometimes risqué fashion sense, do not expect to see any leather bustiers or bullet bras as the collection, titled ‘Material Girl’, will be much more sedate and include everything from jewellery to handbags to ‘sneakers’ to clothing.
Although Madonna has had her fingers in just about every other artistic endeavour including music, film, and children’s books, this will be her first time to tackle the teen fashion industry.
She is working with the Iconix Brand Group Inc on the design and according to the lead Macy’s chief merchandising officer, Jeff Gennette, the large chain is looking forward to working with the entire team and Madonna. He added that Madonna should bring a new image and range of choices to the juniors department.
According to the details of the deal with Macy’s, the company can continue to produce lines with Iconix and Madonna after the first initial launch.
The average prices of the range will sit somewhere between $12 and $40 with a perfume line and beauty product line in the works for 2011, it is expected that a UK launch will follow early next year.
