If you had any doubts about the influence of celebrities on fashion trends, check out the latest word from the leading independent celebrity fashion website, MyCelebrityFashion. They report sales of £1.1million since January of this year, hitting their target date three months early.
The site was launched in 2008 and has proved hugely successful, but the company’s marketing director, Andy Barr, said that recent innovations in the format are the main reason for this surge in popularity and sales.
Based on feedback from customers, MyCelebrityFashion redesigned its website and removed all of the ‘traditional’ advertising methods. The site features more than 400 fashion retailers who can market their goods at this site as well as on their own page.
Users get to view all the latest fashions and see what their favourite celebrity is wearing, then find the item at one or another of the click-through sites and purchase the same or almost identical item for their own wardrobe.
MyCelebrityFashion not only features top models and designers and the clothes that are setting the trends, but they also ‘go out in the field’ to different cities in the U.K. to find the most fashionable non-celebrities on the street as a way of gauging and then offering the latest popular look.
The idea is that anyone who is interested in fashion won’t be limited to just admiring; they can easily emulate the look of fashion-setters by going to the site and searching by celebrity name, product and/or discounts available on the apparel of their dreams.
