Posh Spice in copy design accusation

Although most people might expect any negative press surrounding Victoria Beckham would be based on the fact that she is charging $485 for a pair of jeans, the bad karma is in fact due to the fact that a claim has been made that the design for her line was copied from the British designer Osman Yousefzada.

According to Vogue UK, Osman included a column dress with an internal corset that wrapped around it back in the autumn/winter season of 2009/2010 which Beckham premiered this February in New York on the catwalk.

Viewing the dresses side by side, there is no question that they are almost identical, but fortunately for Beckham Osman looks at the parallel as a compliment.

He stated that it is flattering to think that she saw his dress and was inspired enough by the design to create something similar for her own line.

Beckham is not the only celeb designer under fire, as Whitney Port is also facing the same type of accusation.  However, for her it is not quite such a happy ending as designer Adrienne Baravetto has taken her to court in the LA County Superior Court.

Baravetto claims that she had a verbal agreement with Port’s father and Port to co-design a line at a salary of $80,000 US per year, and a quarter of stock in the company, but the name of the line was changed and it was sold to Fred Segal without any comment or proceeds sent to Baravetto.
