Earlier this year, Q magazine voted Liam Gallagher “The Greatest Front Man of All Time”, and he has certainly been best known for his rock star performance with the band Oasis. However, Liam has another interest, namely clothes, specifically the clothes he wants to wear. Over the past couple of years, the 37-year-old icon of rock has devoted a lot of his time to designing and producing his own clothing line that he calls ‘Simple Green’ after a song by The Jam. The Simple Green line features jeans, jackets, scarves, peacoats, t-shirts etc. all designed by Gallagher himself. He says he is not in this for the money, but because he’s into clothes, and he couldn’t find anything out there he wanted to wear, so why not come up with something he likes. If other people like it that’s fine, he said. If they don’t, at least he’s got a new wardrobe. Apparently, other people like it a lot, as evidenced by the reaction from several sports celebrities and from the general public. Since Gallagher introduced his first collection, Simple Green just took off and kept going. Today (July 30) he finally went really ‘public’ with the opening of his temporary shop on London’s Carnaby Street. A crowd of his celebrity friends showed up to cheer him on, and it looks as if the store is going to be a roaring success. It will be selling a lot of one off selections plus the Green Label and Black Label collections for spring/summer. Gallagher told Metro News reporters to let the women who are asking know that his next project will be a line of women’s wear.
