Tyra Banks set to return to the catwalk

American model Tyra Banks has announced that she will be back in the world of fashion soon, even though she retired from the runway five years ago, by signing a performance contract with IMG Models.

Banks is known most now from ‘America’s Next Top Model’ as a TV presenter, but has now rejoined IMG as a manager, according to a news statement, in which she said that in a way she feels as if she has returned home because the last time she worked with IMG was to reach the commercial sector but now her dreams are much larger.

At age 36, supermodel Banks now not only owns her own company, but has become a business mogul in the US media with several television programs including a talk show, and even a magazine on the internet.

President and CEO of IMG, Ted Frostmann, stated that Tyra is a global brand and they are pleased to welcome her back to IMG, stating that they will work on many fashion opportunities together.

Banks has always kept quite busy, and in addition to all of her other activities, will soon release a young adult novel, and may even take a few strides down the runway soon, which she has not done since 2005.

She made history in the past as the first African American to be awarded a Victoria’s Secret contract, and also to appear in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issues as well as the cover girl on several occasions for GQ magazine.
