Johannesburg, South Africa has now been host to L’oreal’s African Fashion Week, exchanging footballers for models with beautiful bodies and long legs.
Models from around the world, including supermodel Farah Zubaikha, Italian Vogue cover girl Sessilee Lopez and Ralph Lauren’s newest star Millen Magese strutted their stuff on the catwalk.
This event, held over 4 days, displayed clothing lines from 33 designers. Among the attendees to this event, including the obligatory buyers of influence and press, there was also present a number of celebrities and World Cup guests.
Celebrity’s present included superstar Lady Gaga and NBA star Kobe Bryant. There was an appearance on the front row by founder and organiser of New York Fashion Week Fern Mallis, spurning rumours of a new gig working at Africa Fashion Week.
During this event, something rarely seen in the fashion world, Farah Zubaikha and Sessilee Lopez became best of friends. Appearing together on the L’oreal red carpet and dancing together after the LaQuan Smith show.
Latinova held the after-show party for LaQuan Smith, where guests included celebrity stylist Kelly “Millions” Mills, MTV Base personality Fifi, as well as designer and winner of Vh1’s Glam God Indashio.
Farah Zubaikha also befriended Millen Magese during the event, and where overheard making plans to meet up in New York City where they both currently live.
All designs showcased during Africa Fashion Week will be available through the AFI online Fashion Boutique. This online Boutique is the first of its kind and set to be a permanent online store especially for African designs.
