Celeb style hair colouring can not be done at home

Hairdresser’s Journal International, published in the U.K. by Reed Business Information, has been around for 125 years, and is a trusted source for the hair care industry.  The Journal has begun a campaign to encourage those who want to colour their hair to have it done by an expert.

Backed by the world’s leaders in hair colour products and endorsed by Britain’s best colour technicians, the “Keep Colour Professional” campaign is aimed at women who wish their hair looked like the models and celebrities who shine in the spotlight.

Jayne Lewis-Orr, publisher and editor-in-chief of the glossy magazine, said that women in the U.K. love to colour their hair, either to enhance the natural colour, cover gray or change colours altogether, often following the lead of a favourite celebrity.  She says consumers need to recognize that it’s worth the trip to a professional salon to get the job done right.

Stylists and colourists from the top salons offered their take on the subject, noting different celeb hairstyles and colours as examples of what women should try to emulate.  The most important part of the ‘now’ look is for hair to be shiny and healthy, not ‘fried’ or blatantly artificial, and the colour should complement skin colour.

In the opinion of Adam Browne at Redken, the reason all those celebs look great is because they invest time and money in the best products and the expertise of professionals.

He says that “you too will have celebrity hair” if you choose a style that flatters your own look, and take good care of your hair.  Give it extra treatments, get to the salon more often and take a few extra minutes for styling.  That’s what the role models do.
