It has been announce that Savile Row tailors will be taking their place alongside John Lewis and the boot brand Hunter as the series of fashion shows that are to be held in the gardens of Buckingham Palace this summer. The shows will have audiences of both members of the Royal family and ticket holders from the general public, and will be a journey through British fashion of the past 6 decades, showcasing those companies ho have received the royal Warrant of Appointment.
A raised catwalk is set to be constructed that will be in the style of a paved, stone garden path that is edged by flowers. The seating for the 400 ticket holders will be benches that have been designed to look like carefully created topiary hedges. These shows are the first of their kinds to be staged in the Palace’s gardens that are also open to the public, and are part of a 4 day festival that is being hosted by the Royal Warrant Holders Association in celebration of excellence, industry and innovation.
The Savile Row tailors who will be taking part include Dege & Skinner, Gieves & Hawkes, Johns & Pegg and Henry Pool & Co. Also in attendance will be their fellow warrant holders Austin Reed, Ettinger, Hunter Boots, Peter Jones and John Lewis. On the catwalk there will also be features such as specially commissioned pieced from Joey Bevan, the contemporary designer from London, whose aim is to show off the variety of industry sectors and companies which boast the Royal’s seal of approval.
Suzy Pallett, from Media 10 the event organiser, has said that this is the first time an event such as this will take place and everyone is extremely excited to be unveiling the first glimpses of the catwalk that is to be created within the Royal gardens.
