The fashion week sees the most influential names in fashion come to the UK to show off their latest collections and enjoy the catwalk shows. It is expected that Stella McCartney is going to be one of the highlights of the event as she showcases a special collection.

The daughter of Sir Paul McCartney has designed the sports kits by Adidas that is going to be worn by the team from Great Britain during this year’s Olympics. This is not the only high-profile activity that she has been involved in this year either, as she is also set to launch a new perfume.

As well as these new products she is set to open a second store in the capital city which is going to be in Brompton Cross. She is not remaining in London for long though and returns to Paris to show off her winter collection in March.

The diffusion line by Alexander McQueen, McQ, is also going to get some exposure at the fashion event in London and it is expected this is going to generate a significant amount of interest before the new store in London is opened in the spring. This year’s fashion week is sponsored by Vodafone which has been involved with the event for three seasons.

With London hosting the Olympics and the importance of London fashion week, this is going to be a very important year for the capital city. Many people are looking to come to London to stay during both these events and if you are planning to do this there is plenty of information and guides on the internet about the best places to stay and things to do in the city.

Costelloe was offered the 9am curtain raiser opening time slot which is one of the top slots for the event and one that he has held for the last decade. However, this week the Dublin born fashion designer confirmed that he will not be showcasing his autumn winter collections this year at London Fashion Week which is due to take place February 17^th-22^nd at the Somerset House.

He did add that he will be back at the show next autumn. London Fashion Week is considered one of the four largest catwalk shows in the world along with Milan, Paris, and New York.

According to the designer, he is taking a break because he is hard at work getting his mainline range ready for the shops this August and there was a delay with his womenswear mainline range licensing agreement, but he is in negotiations with two different companies at the minute.

Costelloe first hit problems last year when Signature Brands, his backer for the last decade, was forced to go into receivership. His 2011 collection was the first fashion range backed by Cesar Araujo of Calvelex but the agreement dissolved and he was not able to put the line into actual production. According to Costelloe this was a real shame because he felt it was one of his best collections yet.

His menswear licensing deal with Berwin & Berwin is still active and can be found at House of Fraser and Arnott and he also has a Dunnes Stores homewares range that he expects to expand by the close of 2012.

It has been announced by her office that a one-off collection will be showcased in February and it will mark the beginning of the celebration of Stella McCartney’s fashion designs which is taking place in 2012. There is a special exhibition taking place at Selfridge’s and a new store is being opened inLondon.

It has been confirmed that the new collection by McCartney will not have an Olympic theme but other than that the collection remains rather mysterious. The company will be making some money from the Olympics however as they have been commissioned by Adidas to direct the creative side of creatingGreat Britain’s kit.

The British Fashion Council are no doubt hoping that this decision to move the display to London is just the first of McCartney’s plans to move her operations from Paris to her home city of London. Other notable brands have also recently been moving their shows fromFranceandItalyback toLondon, this includes the Burberry brand which has been received with great success.

It seems however that Ms McCartney will be remaining inParisas just two weeks after the show inLondonanother will be taking place inParis. She also is only responsible for 50% of the business so her partner’s decision also matters.

There are generally two times that the celebrities come out, first is at the shows themselves, where they will often be found in the front row, the second is at the after-parties. In the first day of the show there were appearances from Nicola Roberts as well as Paul Costello. PPQ was the place that saw the most celebrity faces on the first day of the week. The place is busy at all times and once inside you will find it hot and crammed, but for those who want to see a famous face, there is little better place to be.

Once the shows are done, the celebrities go to some of the most exclusive parties in London. The first nights was held at the Mayfair Hotel and many of those who were at PPQ made there way to the venue later. As well as the epic parties we are also seeing some great trends for 2012 fashions.

Sports is on the minds of designers and this very much shown through a large amount of the clothes that are on show at the event. This must be attributed to the coming of the Olympic Games next summer. We can see sporty bomber jackets from Lou Dalton and see some great jogging bottoms from Christopher Shannon.

A collection that was a bit more subtle was that of E Tautz which had an element of early 20^th century sports where athletes would dress in what they felt was comfortable, before the advent of modern sports clothes. This meant the collection saw some interesting items in wool and linen. There were also some great blue silk jackets rounding off the collection.

While these were collections for next summer the predominant colours seemed to be darker than what you would expect. There were some exceptions with some neon t shirts and pink trousers, but most of the collections utilised darker colours. The collection by Dalton was actually primarily making use of black. The collection by Top Man was something a bit different and many of the designs had come from Morocco. There were several shirts made out of silk with Ikat prints on them.

Roberto Cavalli commented about the opening, “Fendi used to be in this shop but it was too much space for them. We used to be in theirs and it was too small, so we simply swapped locations.” Even with the new, larger, location is seemed as if there was not enough room for all the guests who were keen to get into the event.

Many celebrities and fashion icons turned up for the event. Wearing a Cavalli kaftan, Bianca Jagger arrived and in a brief interview she commented about her choice of perfume, “I don’t want to be wearing the same scent as anyone else, I want something unique, so I mix my own blend of scents.”

The second part of the celebration was held at Battersea Power Station where there was a dinner being held. Everything about the event was extravagant, from the long red tunnel you had to pass down to enter the dining area, to the tables of exquisite food prepared by Locanda Locatelli. The party was incredibly glitzy and many people commented about the extent of the decorations.

The evening included dancing and Kelis gave a performance of some of her greatest hits, including ‘Trick Me’ and ‘Milkshake.’ The party was so busy and so many people dancing that the floor was moving, and some of the guests who had arrived in high heels were struggling to keep up with how fast the crowd was moving. For those who did not want to dance there was also a wonderful outdoor terrace where guests could soak up some of the atmosphere of the crumbling power station.

Ford is known for his constant self-improvement and taking exceptional care to look good at all times. He is almost always seen in a smart suit and sometimes wears a waistcoat. Ford comes from Texas in the United States, but has been living in England for some time. As someone who has a self-confessed love of the country he describes wearing a suit as, “essential, because everyone here wears a suit all the time.” Many people think that he is too formal, but Ford disagrees.

The man will be feeling good this week as he has just been nominated to receive the ‘Brand of the Year’ award from the British Fashion Awards. Ford has lived in England for around a decade after he brought the Gucci offices to London in the 1990′s.

Tom Ford was responsible for building the Gucci brandsubstantially. When he first came to the company it was Britain where he looked for designers first. He found them and brought their brands and designs under the Gucci conglomerate. Notable people in his recruitment were Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney.

One of the highlights of London Fashion Week is going to be a presentation by Ford, which is sure to be characteristically perfectly put together. He has also described ‘The Only Way is Essex’ as being one of the highlights of the year for culture.

Ford has recently launched a film to much acclaim, and some have said that this is going to detract from his work in the fashion world. About this he has commented, “This is untrue, I have spent much of the summer working on a new cosmetics range. While I very much enjoy designing clothes, cosmetics is something that I get really passionate about. I can spend days just working to get the colour of one product just right.”

Savannah had been inspired by her visit to Giffords Circus last summer and truly enjoyed this.  With many coloured lights and billboards with cut-out faces, allowing customers to pose as Twenty8Twelve models, the fashion sisters met their many fans.

Sienna and Savannah, true to form, showed us exactly what it is that we love about their relaxed and wearable label.  Savannah modeled a neutral white shirt with a combination outsized blazer while Sienna looked comfortable in a simple grey jumper and shorts.  Both wore matching, heavy black boots.

Sienna said that although they love doing shows, their sales remain level as their designs have stayed the same.  In this economy, sales are most important.  We have always known with the Millers and their expertise, we can expect more designs in future, more of the couture variety eligible for the cat-walks.  Sienna revealed that they already have billowing chiffon, edgy prints and aim to do five couture dresses a year with elegance pictured in their minds.
